Tigran Hamasyan’s concert in Ani infuriates Turkish nationalist mayor

STEPANAKERT, JUNE 24, ARTSAKHPRESS: Haber 46 website of Turkey issued a statement by Karachanta,  a member of Turkey’s Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), in connection with the recent concert at the ruins of the ancient Armenian city-state of Ani, and by renowned Armenian pianist Tigran Hamasyan and the Yerevan Chamber Choir.

In the statement, the mayor of Kars stressed that this concert had burned him in the inside several times and in several places.

Karachanta added that this time he had to protest against the concert of the Armenians, and he expressed his intolerance towards them.

The mayor of Kars also asked why the Armenian musician was dressed like a priest while playing the piano in Ani; this was the very thing that had extremely infuriated the Turkish nationalist mayor.
