STEPANAKERT, FEBRUARY 29, ARTSAKHPRESS-ARMENPRESS: As the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Russia informed, the commemorative event was attended by Ambassador of Armenia to Russia Oleg Yesayan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of the AAC Armenian Monastery Complex and New Nakhijevan archbishop Ezras Nersisyan, CSTO Armenian representative Davit Virabyan, Nagorno Karabakh Republic representative in Moscow Albert Andyan, and the diplomatic staff of the embassy.

Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in the Russian Federation Oleg Yesayan delivered a speech, noting that the horrific events which were carried out by Azerbaijani authorites 28 years ago have not been forgotten, and this memory will be transferred from generation to generation, until the perpetrator’s actions have not received appropriate legal, political and moral assessment.
Ambassador Yesayan also reminded that the atrocities in Sumgait and other Azerbaijani towns were aimed at stopping Nagorno-Karabakh from leaving the Azerbaijani SSR and justly joining the Armenian SSR.
A memorial mass was served at the AAC Armenian Monastery Complex.
