The presidents of Russia and the United States have discussed future steps towards promoting peace over Nagorno-Karabakh in a recent telephone conversation.

STEPANAKERT, JULY 7, ARTSAKHPRESS: Citing the Kremlin press service, RIA Novosti reports that President Barack Obama highly praised the Russian efforts towards promoting a further progress in the current peace efforts. The sides reportedly agreed to continue the joint activities within the OSCE Minsk Group.

The two state leaders also considered plans for possible joint military operations in Syria. They both reportedly stressed the importance of re-establishing peace processes under the auspices of the UN.

The sides also discussed the situation in Ukraine, with Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighting the importance of implementing the recently agreed measures.

The conversation took place upon the Russian side’s initiative.
