STEPANAKERT, SEPTEMBER 24, ARTSAKHPRESS: On the occasion of Stepankert Day and the 93rd anniversary of the renaming of the city a number of events were held at the capital’s central park after Stepan Shahumyan.
As Artsakhpress reports, on the occasion of Stepanakert Day, NKR National Assembly Chairman Ashot Ghoulyan, Prime Minister Arayik Haroutyunyan, Mayor of Stepanakert Suren Grigoryan, the delegation led by Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan, who is in Artsakh to participate in the celebration and other high state officials laid flowers and wreaths at the monument to Stepan Shahumyan. 93 year ago the former administrative center of Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast was renamed to Stepankert in honor of Stepan Shahumyan.
A number of cultural and sport events were held today. Similar events will also be held in other parts of Stepanakert and will conclude with a festive concert.
