In an interview with Artsakhpress, Vilen Mikayelyan, the director of the Stepanakert Youth and Children's Creative Center, the graduate of Yerevan State Conservatory, musician, composer, founder and artistic director of "VELANS" ensemble, said that the group includes graduates of Stepanakert Youth Creative Center.
New Vocal Ensemble formed in Artsakh
STEPANAKERT, OCTOBER 27, ARTSAKHPRESS: "The idea of the creation of the group was mine, and Evelina Stepanyan, the teacher of a vocal group in Stepanakert Youth and Children's Creative Center helped me in the formation of the group. The group consists of six members. We decided to call the group “VELANS". We made a group name using the first initials of all the members' names," Mikayelyan said and added that they sing Komitas, folk songs, jazz, pop songs, songs in Karabakh dialect.
“Patriotic songs have a special place in our repertoire and we sing these songs in a new way.
Our ensemble will work with this principle and each concert will have a new program," said Mikayelyan. Referring to the forthcoming new programs, Mikayelyan said that currently they are working on the songs in Artsakh (Karabakh) dialect, and soon they will present them to the audience.
