The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for a terrorist attack n a Spanish resort town near Barcelona, Times Colonist reports.

STEPANAKERT, AUGUST 18, ARTSAKHPRESS: The statement released on IS's Aamaq news agency that the attack was carried out by "soldiers of the Islamic State" in response to the extremist group's calls for followers to target countries participating in the coalition trying to drive it from Syria and Iraq.
To note the deadly events began in the early evening yesterday with a van plowing through crowds on the renowned Las Ramblas avenue, a popular tourist section of Barcelona. Authorities said of the 80 people taken to hospitals, 15 were seriously hurt, CNN reports.
