STEPANAKERT, MAY 5, ARTSAKHPRESS:As ArtsakhPress correspondent informs, MP of RPA faction Gagik Melikyan said that they had quite a serious and sincere talk. In connection with

the domestic political developments in Armenia they discussed the issue of Artsakh’s safety. In Gagik Melikyan’s words, the meeting aimed also at using Artsakh President’s influence to reduce the political tension in Armenia and to create dialogue. “I am confident that our people assess the situation soberly. I believe that the cohesion of people should only be used to provide our state’s security and economic growth,’’ Gagik Melikyan added.

Armenian parliament’s Vice President and representative of “Tsarukyan” faction, Mikael Melkumyan, said that the main goal of the meeting is that to attach importance to the state and national issue — the safety of Artsakh and the invulnerability of borders. “Naturally, there are also risks and the adversary may make use of the situation. However all the political forces expressed their concerns in this regard and reaffirmed that there are no disagreements over the Artsakh issue,’’ Mikael Melkumyan said.

MP of Yelk faction Ararat Mirzoyan said that in conditions of rapid developments of political events, constant and direct contacts and exchange of information with Artsakh leadership are essential and these were carried out during the meeting. “A period of unprecedented opportunities has been created for the Armenians. And under the leadership of people, all our political forces should exert joint efforts in order for us to get the best of it in terms of economy, investments, international reputation and strengthening of the Armenian sides’ position in the negotiation process,” Ararat Mirzoyan said.

In ARF’s MP Armen Rustamyan’s words, in the meeting with Artsakh President, importance was attached not only to the peaceful solution of the domestic political crisis but also to its being speedy so that the enemy is not tempted to launch a new aggression. “We also see a probability that the nationwide movement will restrain Azerbaijan. We should end the movement and be more united and all the efforts are directed toward it,’’ Armen Rustamyan emphasized.

Chairman of the Artsakh Republic National Assembly Ashot Ghulyan, Minister of State Arayik Harutyunyan and other officials partook in the meeting.
