STEPANAKERT, JULY 27, ARTSAKHPRESS: Advisor to the Director on Museum Management of the Matenadaran Ara Khzmalyan told Artsakhpress that the opening of Matenadaran has historical significance.

"In a very short time we understood the importance and necessity of a branch of Mashtots Matenadaran in Artsakh. We have more than 1000 visitors in a week. This is important not only for the internalization of documents about Artsakh and Gandzasar monasteries , but also for informing the domestic audience about values created by Armenian people over time,” he said, adding that it is very important both in terms of raising our self-awareness and self-identification, and for showing the foreigners written monuments created in Artsakh, which have significant scientific-cultural and artistic value.

"Yerevan's Matenadaran employees came and worked in Artsakh. We wanted to strengthen the link between Matenadaran and its branch in Artsakh. Now we want to move the activities of Artsakh branch of Matenadaran to the international platform. These are our main tasks. As for international cooperation, I must say that 3 years ago in the field of preservation of the written heritage, Matenadaran became basic organization among CIS countries. Becoming international platform, people come and train here not only from CIS, but also from Baltic and European countries. Prospects for activities related to Artsakh Matenadaran are very large. We hope that with the government's active support, we will be able to carry out all the problems related to Matenadaran, " said Khzmalyan.

The responsible for "Gandzasar" ” scientific-cultural center and for socialization of activities and internationalization, Aram Torosyan noted that they met with NKR Prime Minister Arayik Haroutyunyan and discussed further steps and actions concerning Matenadaran. In November “Aristotelian Readings " international conference will be held . At first, it will take place Yerevan, then in Artsakh. The conference will also stimulate the international recognition of Artsakh. We believe that what is being created and maintained has also a problem of representation, and they are equal and equivalent actions. We are also carrying out works for strengthening relations between army and society,” said Torosyan.
