Filipino president Rodrigo Duterte expressed regret over comments against U.S. President Barack Obama, The Telegraph reported.
Philippines’ President regrets comments against Obama
STEPANAKERT, SEPTEMBER 6, ARTSAKHPRESS: “While the immediate cause was my strong comments to certain press questions that elicited concern and distress we also regret it came across as a personal attack on the US president”, Duterte stated.
Earlier it was reported that Duterte called Obama a “son of a whore”.
According to the newspaper, the president of Philippines made such a statement because of messages that during their meeting the U.S. President will touch upon murder of more than 2,000 people within operation to curb crime sin the country after the election of Duterte.
Obama noted at the G20 summit in China that Washington considers a problem of drug trafficking and crime serious for Philippines which will be one of the topics discussed during the meeting. The White House canceled a meeting between President Obama and Duterte on Monday.
