The crime in Sumgait has not received a legal assessment to this day, stated Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Foreign Affairs Minister Karen Mirzoyan.
Mirzoyan told the aforesaid to reporters on Friday, and after paying tribute, at the Stepanakert Memorial in the NKR capital city, to the victims of the Armenian pogroms that took place 26 years ago in Sumgait, Azerbaijan.
“We are convinced that the perpetrators of such a crime will receive their deserved punishment and assessment, sooner or later,” he stated.
The NKR FM added that the impunity of the Sumgait tragedy had paved the way for new crimes, new massacres, and for the launching of Azerbaijan’s large-scale military aggression against the newly independent Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
