Mexico is interested in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), treating the integration bloc as an opportunity to expand its presence in the region, RIA Novosti reports, citing a deputy foreign minister of the Latin American state.

STEPANAKERT, JUNE 1, ARTSAKHPRESS: “We need to discuss the possible rapprochement between the Pacific Alliance (Mexico, Peru, Chile, and Colombia) and the EAEU,” said de Icaza González, who on Wednesday begins his official visit to Russia.
The diplomat noted that Mexico plans to develop such a discourse, but he did not specify a date for the possible signing of a memorandum of cooperation.
The Eurasian Economic Union comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
