From March 23 to 26 Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) world championship was held in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Artsakh athletes win medals in Russia

STEPANAKERT, MARCH 28, ARTSAKHPRESS:President of the Artsakh martial arts association, MMA head coach, Garegin Aghabalyan, informed Artsakhpress two athletes from Artsakh participated in the championship.

Marat Barseghyan (w.c.61,2 kg) and Davit Kocharyan (w.c. 56,7 kg) from Artsakh captured second and third places respectively and were awarded with silver and bronze medals.

The coach next said to this day no athlete representing either Armenia or Artsakh in MMA world championship reached the final round; Marat Barseghyan is the first.

Speaking about the results of the championship, Garegin Aghabalyan said the results are satisfactory.
