Confederation of Independent Football Associations (ConiFA) will organize the European Championship to be held on June 4-15, 2019 in the Republic of Artsakh. 12 teams will take part in the championship.

STEPANAKERT, OCTOBER 12, ARTSAKHPRESS: Deputy Chairman of the Lernayin Artsakh (Mountainous Artsakh) FC Mher Avanesyan said in an interview with "Artsakhpress", adding that the preparatory works have already been launched and the official logo of the tournament has been confirmed.

"The games will be held in Stepanakert, Martakert and Askeran stadiums. As a reserve stadium, the stadium of Chartar is chosen. Teams participating in the tournament that will start on June 4 will arrive in Artsakh three days earlier, in order to take part in the events planned by the Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism of the Republic of Artsakh. A large number of journalists are expected to visit Artsakh as well, " Avanesyan noted.

He also informed that a special commission has already been created, which deals with organizational works, including the construction of stadiums, meeting guests and their safety, as well as opening and closing ceremonies.

Concerning the decision on holding the tournament in Artsakh, M. Avanesyan noted that since 2013 Artsakh is also a member of ConiFA. In 2014 the team participated in the World Cup. Friendly matches with Abkhazia were organized.
"On July 25-29 of the current year, ConiFA members visited Artsakh, met with the President of the Republic of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan and the president of the Artsakh Football Federation Samvel Karapetyan. There was an official announcement that the tournament will be held in Artsakh in mid-August, "he said. Avanesyan added that the preparatory phase of our team will begin in November.
