A solemn closing ceremony of the CONIFA European Football Cup 2019 took place at the Stepan Shahumyan Republican Stadium of Stepanakert, Artsakh Republic.

STEPANAKERT, JUNE 9,  ARTSAKHPRESS: Welcoming the attendees of the event CONIFA Europe President Alberto Rischio thanked all the teams for presenting a spectacular game.

Addressing the audience, he said: "We are leaving a country that can organize and conduct high-level tournaments. And why not, maybe one day the CONIFA World Championship will be held t in Artsakh. We are leaving a country that will one day have its own national football league. This is one of the most important goals of CONIFA -to support football federations.

These days we got acquainted with hundreds of people, including volunteers. We are grateful to our general sponsor, as well as Artsakh and Artsakh people for their professionalism and organization. "

Western Armenia and South Ossetia that compete for the European champion’s title play as real champions.

The coach of the South Ossetian team Soslan Kochiev noted that the matches were very tense, especially the final, but they managed to win and become the CONIFA-2019 champion.

In his speech he said: "We have convinced that the people of Artsakh love football very much. We are thankful to our fans that have been with us until the last moment. The Artsakh people are friendly, hospitable, kind and willing.”

The honor of awarding prizes was given to Artsakh State Minister Grigory Martirosyan, Minister of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Artsakh Narine Aghabalyan, CONIFA Europe President Alberto Rischio and Confederation of Indepedent Football Associations Secretary General, Sascha Duerkop.

South Ossetia won the champion’s title. Western Armenia took the second place and Abkhazia-the third place.

The event was attended by Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan with his wife Anahit Sahakyan, Artsakh NA Chairman Ashot Ghulyan, other state officials, guests, football fans and others.
