A rally will be held in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, on February 26 on the occasion of the massacres of the Armenians in Sumgait, Kirovabad and Baku. As ''Arstakhpress'' reports the Armenia Youth Union of South America told ''Armenpress'' that the protest action will be held in front of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Buenos Aires. “The rally is directed to the Azerbaijani government, which continues its attacks on Armenia and Karabakh. 26 years ago Azerbaijan committed the massacres of the Armenians in Sumgait, which was the continuation of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 carried out by Turkey. We are filled with determination to achieve justice”, - said Armenia Youth Union of South America.

On the same day one of the Armenian news agencies functioning in Argentina will provide English articles to the newspapers, TV channels and press offices presenting historic facts on the Sumgait massacres.

From 1988 to 1990, the Armenian population in Soviet Azerbaijan was the target of racially motivated pogroms against Armenians in the cities of Sumgait (February 27-29, 1988), Kirovabad (November 21-27, 1988) and Baku (January 13-19, 1990).

Argentina recognized the Armenian Genocide in 2007.
