President of Iran Hassan Rouhani plans to visit Armenia in the near future, the president himself said during his meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Sunday.

STEPANAKERT, JUNE 6, ARTSAKHPRESS: President Rouhani described relationship between Armenia and Iran as “strong and stable” and added that lifting of sanctions had created good opportunities for development of trade and economic ties in all areas, NEWS.am reports.

Minister Nalbandian extended greetings and the message from President Serzh Sargsyan.

President Rouhani and Minister Nalbandian discussed agreements reached between the leaders of the two states and touched upon implementation of bilateral economic projects.

The Iranian leader noted progress in bilateral collaboration in different areas but pointed to the existing potential for cooperation. The officials agreed that lifting of visa requirements will intensify business ties and development of tourism.

Minister Nalbandian stressed Armenia’s readiness to design and implement new projects.

The Armenian official briefed President Rouhani on the moves targeted at overcoming results of the Azerbaijan’s aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh in early April as well as the efforts on implementing arrangements reached during the meeting in Vienna.

In this context, President Rouhani said that Iran has always supported the regional security, stability and peace as well as the peaceful settlement of the existing problems, and reiterated his country’s support to exclusively peaceful solution to Karabakh conflict based on the principles of international law.

Minister Nalbandian highly appreciated Iran's balanced position on Karabakh conflict settlement.
