The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs Information and Public Relations Department issued a comment to Armenian NEWS.am, with respect to blogger Alexander Lapshin being detained in Belarus.
NKR MFA: Azerbaijan authorities again resorted to policy of intimidation
STEPANAKERT, DECEMBER 17, ARTSAKHPRESS: “The launching of a criminal case against and detention of famous blogger Alexander Lapshin causes serious concern.
“Azerbaijan, where pressures and political persecution being carried out on concocted pretenses against political and civil activists and journalists have long since become a tradition, is attempting to spread its ‘standards’ of human rights beyond the borders of the country.
“Such demeanor is not solely an apparent violation of fundamental human rights, especially of freedom of movement and rights to freedom of expression, but is also a policy of intimidation, to which an adequate assessment should be given by the international community,” the NKR MFA comment reads.
Famous blogger Alexander Lapshin was detained in Belarus. The Azerbaijani authorities had issued a search for Lapshin, and for visiting Artsakh.
