Festival of zhengalov hats to be held in June in Artsakh's Haterk

On July 15 a festival of zhengalov hats (bread with herbs) will be organized in Martakert region's Haterk community, head of “Ecotourism in Artsakh” initiative group, Samvel Mirzakhanyan, told ArtsakhPress.

STEPANAKERT, JUNE 25, ARTSAKHPRESS: The official said that the festival will be organized within the framework of ''Powerful Haterk'' project and with the support of Artsakh Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism, as well as of Martakert's regional administration.

He said that the question of organizing the event in Haterk has been discussed with the Artsakh Culture Minister, Sergey Shahverdyan.

''The community has all resources for organizing the festival properly. This will be a powerful step directed toward preservation of our cultural heritage,” S. Mirzakhanyan said and underscored that during the festival skilled chefs will make zhengalov hats. Those present will have the opportunity to familiarize with secrets of making the bread.

Samvel Mirzakhanyan also added that national songs and dances, and theatrical performances will be within the framework of the project. Participants will also have the opportunity to see historical and cultural places of Haterk. A range of national dishes will be served in “Haterk” hotel.

To note, vehicles will be envisaged for those who want to participate in the festival. Tickets will be free for children under ten. Those aged 10 to 14 and starting from 15 will pay 500 drams and 1000 drams respectively.
