STEPANAKERT, NOVEMBER 14, ARTSAKHPRESS: As ArtsakhPress reports, Vahram Beglaryan, General Director of “Artsakh HPP’’ OJSC said at the event organized in Stepanakert on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of "Sarsang Hydroelectric Power Plant" and the 11th anniversary of Artsakh HPP OJSC.

He noted that 40 years ago, a hydroelectric power plant has been put into operation, which still remains the main source of energy for Artsakh.

"It is difficult to overestimate the role of the hydroelectric power plant in the economy of the republic,” he noted.
Within 11 years,  7 small hydropower plants have joined the Sarsang Hydroelectric Power Plant, in particular, "Trghi-1" (3MW) in 2010, "Trghi-2" (6 MW) in 2011, in 2012 "Mataghis 1" and "Mataghis 2" with a total capacity of 7,8 MW, in 2015 - "Trghi 3" with a capacity of 5 MW.
"In 2018, we had an opportunity to put into operation two more hydroelectric power stations: Trghi-4 - 0.8 MW and Lev-1 - 7 MW. The company has 8 stations and the total capacity out of 50MW increased by up to 79.5 MW, amounting to 60%. The annual electricity production has increased by 120%. If by 2007 Sarsang HPP was producing 80-90 million kWh of electricity, we planned and expect that the volume of our production in 2019 will be 220 million kWh.

During these years the company has created 140 workplaces. In 2007 we had 90 employees, as of today-230 employees. The majority of the created jobs were occupied by professionals, who gained their skills and abilities at the "Artsakh HPP". The salaries have also increased dramatically. If by mid-2007 the average salary was 60,000 drams, now it is 160,000 drams. All these achievements have been made thanks to the company's employees and investors, " Beglaryan concluded.
