STEPANAKERT,  FEBRUARY 20, ARTSAKHPRESS:  In an interview with “Artsakhpress, Lernik Hovhannisyan, Minister of Culture , Youth Affairs and Tourism of the Republic of Artsakh, said that 20 February 1988 was a historic day for our people.

Our homeland and the maintenance of our national identity were in danger. The people of Artsakh always felt it since the years of Soviet dictatorship. But at that very moment the people of Artsakh consolidated and defended their land and history.
Hovhannisyan noted that we can state that we have reached our goal as we have two independent states, despite the fact that there are a lot of things that need to be done to achieve the final union, and that union refers not only the Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia, but also the lost homeland we had.

Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan, the former President of Artsakh Republic Arkady Ghukasyan, Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, other officials were present at the event.
