ARF: PACE anti-Armenian reports are aimed at transferring Karabakh issue to other instances

The real objective of the anti-Armenian reports, which are tabled for discussion at the forthcoming Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) winter session, is to transfer the issue of Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution to other instances.

STEPANAKERT, JANUARY 13, ARTSAKHPRESS: Azerbaijan is displeased with the negotiation process, and that is what it wants.  Head of the Political Affairs Bureau and the Armenian Cause Office of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, Giro Manoyan, noted the aforementioned at a press conference on Wednesday, NEWS.am informs.

In his words, however, this is not the first time that PACE is attempting to unilaterally discuss matters.

“The role of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs is also important here,” Manoyan stressed. “It is indispensable that their role be significant, since such resolutions deal a blow to their mediation mission and the Karabakh negotiation process, first of all.”

As per the ARF official, the adoption of these anti-Armenian resolutions at the PACE winter session could have a negative impact on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“Such steps will encourage Azerbaijan to continue its military actions at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the [Karabakh-Azerbaijan] Line of Contact,” Giro Manoyan added. “I hope that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries [i.e. US, Russia, and France] will be more consistent.”

There are two anti-Armenian resolutions on the agenda of the upcoming PACE winter session. They are PACE MP Robert Walter’s (UK) report entitled “Escalation of Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan,” and PACE MP Milica Marković’s (Bosnia and Herzegovina) report about Sarsang Reservoir in Nagorno-Karabakh, and entitled “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water.”
