Armenian, NKR Ombudsmen visit Talish residents affected by Azerbaijani aggression

STEPANAKERT, SEPTEMBER 13, ARTSAKHPRESS: Accompanied by Ruben Melikyan, the ombudsman of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Tatoyan visited the village Mataghis to evaluate the damages caused, reports the Armenian Human Rights Defenders’ press service.


The targeted attacks by the Azerbaijani armed forces towards Mataghis village and the reservoir in April were recorded. The targeted attacks towards the reservoir aimed to cause huge damage to the civilians of the NKR. Such act grossly violates the requirements set by the international human rights law, as well as the international humanitarian law.

The two Ombudsmen visited also Alashan district of Mataghis region and met Talish residents who had left their homes and settled there due to the April attack by Azerbaijan.

The Ombudsmen are calling the international structures’ attention on the fundamental violations made by the Azerbaijani armed forces against the NKR civilians. That information with respective justification will be submitted to the international organizations dealing with human rights.
