Donald Trump’s victory should not arouse concern – Armenian deputy FM

Donald Trump’s election as US president should not arouse concern, but further efforts are worth making, Armenia’s Deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan told reporters on Thursday in response to a question about the Armenian side’s concern that Donald Trump’s election will put an end to the US focus on the region, informs Tert.am.

STEPANAKERT, NOVEMBER 10, ARTSAKHPRESS: “Varied opinions can be heard in different parts of the world, including Armenia. In any case, we are dealing with a stable system, stable experts and previous approaches and a program,” Mr Kocharyan said as he commented on Armenian experts’ opinions that the US administration will become weaker.

He points out a need to wait for the White House to take a political course in this stable system.

“I do not think we have to be seriously concerned, but we always have what to work on,” Mr Kocharyan said.

In response to a remark that, in answering a reporter’s question concerning Nagorno-Karabakh a few a years ago, he said he was not fully informed, Mr Kocharyan said that the US Department of State is a stable structure with stable institutional memory and experts.

“Therefore, it is not a problem.  A presidential candidate is not supposed to have full information on global developments at his disposal.  The situation is different after he has been elected. Relevant structures are supposed to deal with it,” Mr Kocharyan said.
