STEPANAKERT, MARCH 31, ARTSAKHPRESS-ARMENPRESS: “Significant steps were made in terms of security of the soldiers in the frontline, they have been equipped with corresponding hardware. New armaments have also been added, which are seen to some extent, however overall it’s not everything that is being spoken about. There are processes which will have their say in specific situations.

Taking into account the implemented work, today we can confidently say that after one year we have more protected borders. But I would like to underscore that naturally it’s not only about defense. As the commander-in-chief mentioned in the latest speech, there are other functions which are preventive, are perspective for security. Armenia is acquiring such state-of-the-art equipment, which will enable to not let it reach defense”, Artsrun Hovhannisyan said.

Speaking on the lessons learned after the April war, Hovhannisyan noted that even during military exercises analysis is made, lessons are learned, therefore conclusions are also made during combat operations.

“Of course the military learned lessons after the April war, conclusions have been made, but not always can these be transparent and perceivable, because often they are highly specialized issues. But I will say that to some extent the conclusions and lessons are vivid. In terms of efficiency, the changed handwriting during combat operations was seen, but these are just one part of it, steps are more profound.

Daily work is being done, every day conclusions are made for increasing the level of border protection”, Hovhannisyan said.

The military-industry sector is under special focus after the April war. Hovhannisyan said this sector is one of the directions in the process of increasing border defense. He underscored that significant work is carried out in the military-industry field, which is confidential.

Regarding the process of assisting the families of the fallen soldiers of the April war, Hovhannisyan said a sufficient assessment cannot happen in this work.

“This process has a permanent requirement in all directions. Both the society and the state paid more attention to the families of fallen soldiers of the April war, than the families of those who fell in the previous years, but anyhow, this isn’t enough. This is a permanent process”, he said.

Speaking on the military compensation fund for the families, Hovhannisyan said they have already received the data on two beneficiaries; all details will be available on the fund’s website.
