Today in the Stepanakert Culture and Youth Palace the Karabakh office of the International Committee of the Red Cross organized an exhibition devoted to the International Day of Missing Freedom Fighters.

STEPANAKERT, AUGUST 30, ARTSAKHPRESS: As "Artsakhpress" reports, Charlotte Yans, the representative of the project “Support to Families of Missing Persons” of ICRC in Artsakh, thanked the guests for attending and respecting the memory of missing persons.

He noted that the exhibition was organized by the joint efforts of the ICRC and the families of the missing freedom fighters. “It is s a part of the support program that the International Committee of the Red Cross carried out since 2011.

Many of these photos speak instead of families, but the hopes and sufferings of these families remain unknown to the public.

Today, taking an opportunity, we share with you poetry and quotations belonging to the families of the missing persons which better describe their real psychology, "added Charlotte Yans.

 

And the head of the ICRC mission in Artsakh Dragoslav Blazevic noted that with this project ICRC wants to  support the families of missing persons and to those who are trying to help these families.

He also noted that the destiny of missing persons remains one of the main issues of the ICRC in the region.

Since 1992, as a result of the Karabakh conflict, the ICRC has registered more than 4500 missing persons in the region, the fate of which is still unknown.

The event was attended by the Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh Narine Aghabalyan, the Minister of Health Karine Atayan, the Minister of Justice Ararat Danielyan, Vera Grigoryan, the Chairman of the NGO " Union of Relatives of Missing Freedom Fighters”, relatives of missing freedom fighters and guests.
