STEPANAKERT, OCTOBER 23, ARTSAKHPRESS: Head of the Shekher community Mkhitar Mangasaryan told "Artsakhpress" that the school was built in 2001 with the help of French-Armenian philanthropist Garbis Nikoghosyan, where 73 pupils study.
"With the help of Garbis Nikoghosyan, as well as with the active participation of other benefactors, a gym was built in the village in 2009, which is named after Monte Melkonian, the hero of Artsakh. It is worth noting that there is no kindergarten in the village. But we have 42 preschool-age children in Shekher, "he added.
Mkhitar Mangasaryan noted that the building conditions of the village community center aren't favorable. There is a need to build a new community center in the village.
The head of the community noted that that the residents are mainly engaged in agriculture and cattle-breeding.
Our interlocutor noted that although the community is provided with drinking water, the irrigation network is not available yet in the village, which creates unfavorable conditions for the cultivation of melons and gourds.
