Zamoskvoretskiy Moscow court once again postponed the trial of businessman Levon Hayrapetyan, who is accused of stealing 700 thousand dollars from mother of ex-Senator Igor Izmestiev, RIA Novosti reported.
Levon Hayrapetyan is in hospital: Court adjourned case hearing
STEPANAKERT, DECEMBER 9, ARTSAKHPRESS-ARMENPRESS: The court took such a decision as the defendant is still in the hospital. The court will take a new attempt to start considering the case on December 15.
The former senator from Bashkortostan Igor Izmestiev sentenced to life imprisonment for terrorism and other serious crimes. According to investigators, he introduced a woman entrepreneur astray, promising to get her son a light sentence for a large sum. In fact, Hayrapetyan did not have possibility to influence the judgment.
It is expected that the prosecutor will announce the indictment during the first meeting, after which the defendant will reply whether he recognizes himself guilty or not. Then the court will proceed to study the evidences and examine witnesses. Hayrapetyan faces up to ten years imprisonment over the case of embezzlement of 700 thousand dollars.
Another case is opened with regard of Hayrapetyan. He is accused of involvement in the sale of "Bashneft" by Ural Rakhimov in April 2009, which he led for three years, the structures of the AFC "System".
According to investigators, Hayrapetyan has dual citizenship and property abroad, in particular in recent years he lived in Monaco. This fact justifies the need for the investigation and his detention in prison. In early October, the businessman was transferred to house arrest. Hayrapetyan's lawyer said earlier that his client's health has deteriorated, and he requested his release.
